Terms of use

1. The service

Ivory, by Pale Labs Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales (company number 17146626), whose registered office is at 71–75 Shelton Street, Covent Garden, London WC2H 9JQ, is an AI piano coach. Its feedback is written by an AI model from what it hears and reads. It can be wrong: it's practice guidance, not a qualification or a substitute for a teacher's judgement where that matters to you.

2. Your account

You sign in with Apple. Keep your device secure; you're responsible for use of your account. One subscription covers the people sharing one iPhone, as set up in the app's "who's playing".

3. Free first lesson

New learners get a free first lesson of six replies from Ivory. One free lesson per person; we may limit it where it's being misused.

4. Subscriptions

Monthly at $29.99 or weekly at $7.99 (or the local price shown in the app). Payment is taken by Apple. A subscription renews automatically until you cancel it in your Apple ID settings, at least 24 hours before the end of the period. Refunds are handled by Apple under its rules.

5. Fair use

Ivory is for your own practice. To keep it affordable for everyone, we limit very heavy use (for example, the length of a single message or recording, and how much coaching an account uses in a few hours or a week). If you reach a limit, Ivory tells you when coaching is available again. Don't try to get around limits, extract the service or its prompts, or use it to build a competing service.

6. Your content

What you play, write and photograph stays yours. You give us permission to process it to run Ivory (see the privacy policy), and, unless you turn off "Help improve Ivory" in Settings, to keep your conversations with Ivory and the notes you play and use them to improve Ivory and train future versions of it and of our own models. We never keep recordings of your microphone, and we don't sell your content. Only upload sheet music you're allowed to use; a photo of your own copy for your own practice is fine.

7. Keepsakes and sharing

Videos Ivory makes of your playing are yours to share. They carry Ivory's name and address so others can find it.

8. Changes and ending

We may change Ivory or these terms; we'll tell you in the app about changes that matter. You can stop using Ivory and delete your account at any time. We may close accounts that break these terms.

9. Liability

Ivory is provided as it is. To the extent the law allows, we're not liable for indirect losses, and our total liability is limited to what you paid in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing here limits rights you have by law as a consumer.

10. Law and contact

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. If you live elsewhere, you keep any protections the law where you live gives you that can't be signed away. Contact: support@ivorypiano.com.
